David Moss serves as Legal Fellow at the NAACP Legal Defense and Educational Fund, Inc. (LDF). As a member of the Justice in Public Safety Project, he works on litigation and policy efforts to advance equity in public safety and law enforcement accountability. David joins LDF from the New Jersey Office of the Public Defender, where he represented clients in criminal cases and focused on the state’s recently reformed pre-trial detention laws.
David received his J.D. from New York University School of Law in 2021. During law school, he represented clients in federal misdemeanor court as a member of the Federal Defender Clinic, and represented youth facing criminal charges in Family Court as a member of the Juvenile Defender Clinic. He also served as Director of the Advocacy Project, where he organized student participation in policy campaigns across New York State.
Prior to law school, David worked as a Communications Director at the New York City Council, and assisted on a number of campaigns, including as an organizer for Queens Court Watch and as a researcher for the #CLOSERikers campaign.
As an undergraduate, David graduated from New York University, where he received a bachelor’s degree in Journalism and English Literature. He is a member of the New York and New Jersey State Bar Associations.
