Lisa North

Lisa North joined NAACP Legal Defense and Education Fund in 2022 as Chief Operating Officer.  She is responsible for managing a smooth-running, highly effective, and inclusive organization capable of delivering on its strategy, in a context of achieving larger impact and scale. 

 

Lisa brings thirty-five years of experience in social justice and human rights organizations.  Prior to joining LDF she served as Deputy CEO, Acting CEO, and Chief Operating Officer at The Global Hunger Project.  Other roles have included Vice President for Institutional Advancement at the Institute for Sustainable Communities, Capital Campaign Director and Grants Director at the American Friends Service Committee, Development Officer at the Foundation Center, and Business Manager at WBAI/Pacifica Radio.  In all her roles, she has thrived on finding new ways to drive organizational effectiveness by developing people, strengthening systems, and promoting best practices.

 

Lisa holds an MBA from Columbia University and a BA from Mills College. She grew up in Vermont and Germany, has worked and traveled extensively in Africa and Asia, and currently calls New York City her home. She is married and has three grown children.
