Victor Jones serves as Senior Counsel at the Legal Defense Fund Defense (LDF), where he litigates school desegregation and other education cases in federal courts. Through his efforts as a school desegregation attorney, Victor has helped thousands of schoolchildren in Louisiana, Mississippi, and Alabama obtain the equal educational opportunities they are constitutionally entitled to receive as recognized by the Supreme Court in Brown v. Board of Education.
Prior to joining LDF, Victor served as Executive Counsel for the Louisiana Board of Regents, where he developed statewide legislative and administrative policies to ensure the continuation of postsecondary education in Louisiana at the height of the COVID-19 pandemic. He also was a Senior Supervising Attorney for the Southern Poverty Law Center, where he led the Louisiana Children Right’s Practice Group.
Between 2012 and 2018, Victor was a litigation associate at multi-disciplinary law firms in New Orleans. During his time as a corporate attorney, Victor was awarded the Pro Bono Century Award by the Louisiana State Bar Association for his representation of children in child welfare proceedings in the Greater New Orleans Area.
Victor received his J.D. from Loyola University New Orleans College of Law. While in law school, Victor was a judicial extern for the Honorable Ivan L.R. Lemelle of the United States District Court for the Eastern District of Louisiana. He also holds a Master’s Degree in Education from Harvard University and a B.A. in Literature from Xavier University of Louisiana. He is also a graduate and avid supporter of the national Head Start program.
Victor is a former public school kindergarten teacher. He is a member of the 2022 Class of the Presidential Leadership Scholars Program. He is a native of Mississippi and member of Omega Psi Phi Fraternity, Inc.
