The coronavirus pandemic has caused profound anxiety and uncertainty throughout the United States. At the NAACP Legal Defense and Educational Fund, Inc. (LDF), we are deeply committed to ensuring the health and safety of our families, colleagues, and communities. We recognize that this crisis has exposed issues that this country has ignored for too long regarding its treatment of disenfranchised groups, including communities of color. As we mark the 80th anniversary of our founding today, our commitment to working on behalf of those who are most marginalized and most affected by this pandemic takes on even greater urgency. Alongside our allies, we will fight to ensure that the critical work of civil rights – including protecting elections, obtaining socioeconomic support for the most vulnerable, and actively confronting racism and discrimination – continues and is even further amplified during this challenging time. We remain ever steadfast in our pledge to fight for an America where a shared commitment to the values of equality and justice is paramount.
